Getting started

  1. Connect Google Calendar from the installation page.
  2. Connect Slack using the account whose status should be updated.
  3. Create or join a timed calendar event. Updates normally appear within one minute.

Common questions

Why is my status showing “In a meeting”?

Events marked private or confidential intentionally hide their titles. Events without a usable title also use this fallback.

Why is the status emoji a calendar?

The calendar icon is used when the event title has no emoji or when Slack does not support the title's emoji sequence.

What happens with overlapping events?

The most recently started active event normally wins. Events with identical start times use a deterministic priority based on participation, attendees, privacy and end time.

Why did Slack set me away?

Public events containing “lunch” or “lunchtime” set presence to away. Calendar Status returns presence to Slack's automatic mode when lunch ends.

How do I disconnect or delete my data?

Revoke the app from Google and Slack to stop future access. Email chris5marsh@gmail.com to request deletion of stored service data.

Response times

Calendar Status is currently a free, independently operated service. Support requests are handled on a reasonable-efforts basis, normally within five business days.
